Clarion County Fair
What a great day at the Clarion County Fair.
I had the opportunity to go to the Clarion County Fair on Disability Awareness Day this past July. I didn’t know what to expect but I can certainly say that the day was amazing! It was presented by Valley Advantages and it was open to all people with disabilities and their staff, with free admission to the fair.
Once inside the fairgrounds the amounts of things that people could do and enjoy themselves with was astounding.
Here is a list of some of the things that people could participate in or just enjoy:
- Free photo booth with pictures sent out to all who participated
- Corn hole game
- Giant Jenga game
- Sensory tent
- Craft table
- Face painting and Henna tattoos
- Open petting barn
- 4H demonstration
- Bingo presented by the New Bethlehem Lions Club
- Bling bags given out at the entrance, which included handmade buttons, water bottle, stress ball, sun glasses, and other goodies
- C93 radio station had a booth for people to visit
- Leader Vindicator (New Bethlehem local newspaper) also had a booth to visit
The committee that planned and put this day together also worked with vendors to open rides, food booths, and games early for people to enjoy.
One of the day’s highlights for me, and for others, was volunteers dressed up as superheroes to walk around and greet everyone. Everyone seemed to enjoy meeting Captain America!
Due to the success of the day with over 200 people attending, this special event is marked to return annually. The name of the day is going to change but it will always be on Thursday of the fair week.
The presenters are open to suggestions and any ideas, as well as any volunteers. You can contact:
- Cassandra Carlson 814-275-0039
- Brooke Clinger 814-275-0039
- Chelsea Davenport 814-275-0039
I hope that everyone who has the opportunity to attend next year does so; it is a fun filled day dedicated to people differently abled.
