It’s a Doggie World

I recently discovered the Wisconsin based company, Gracie’s Doggie Delights. Having an adorable, rambunctious pup of my own, I was intrigued to sniff out what the buzz was about. As the name suggests, this company is all about making delicious treats for our furry buddies but what sets them apart is their commitment to be all USA product, all the way. The treats are quite simply freeze dried meats, just USDA inspected meat, no grains, no fillers, and no added ingredients.

What gets our tails really wagging though is the creative energy behind the company. Grace, a young woman with Down syndrome, is the entrepreneur behind this tasty venture. She and her family launched the company in 2016 when Grace was just 19 years old. Finding the job market limited and driven to meld passion with career, Gracie’s Doggie Delights was born. Grace loves dogs and treating her three rescue miniature schnauzers, who can attest to the quality snacks. (Grace with her furry friends, Zoe, Liam, and Frodo are shown in photo.)

As I considered which treats would suit my puppy, I wondered how many people in my own state of PA could benefit from thinking outside the box like Grace. If there isn’t a job that fits you, perhaps it’s time to invent the job. Maybe this is a tell-tail marker (excuse the pun) that there’s a market for the service you can bring. We all have talents, strengths, and passions that only we can bring to the table. If you aren’t you the world misses out. Starting a business can be daunting but as Grace and her family demonstrate, it starts with small steps. They contacted their local butcher and arranged a wholesale rate. Then they set up low-key operations in house with packaging, labeling, and shipping. Grace’s website was launched to announce products but the growth of orders and widespread location of customers was something they couldn’t have predicted.  Just goes to show that you never know how high you can jump to catch the ball until you try. Ok, maybe I should leave the dog analogies to someone else but I truly want to encourage you, dear reader, to find your passion and flourish.

My pup, Koda, so delighted to be a G-Dog with his first order.
