It’s Purely Patrick!

Small, personal businesses are part of the heart of America. It is after all the “the land of opportunity.” Perhaps now, more than ever, people are recognizing the value of small business and the need to support them. Small businesses are born at the intersection of creativity, ingenuity, and passion. Purely Patrick is one such Vermont, thriving business.

Purely Patrick’s tagline says it all:

Don’t DIS my ABILITY

Products with passion

Profits with purpose

Patrick Lewis is a gentleman with cerebral palsy and is also blind. However, this does not define him, nor did it prevent him from starting and maintaining his very own business, Purely Patrick. His gourmet specialty treats come in handy, re-usable water bottles and include a variety of soups, breads, beverages, and sweet desserts. (There are also a few Gluten-Free options.) He even has a couple kits to treat your favorite furry or feathered friend.  You just add your wet ingredients for a quick and easy meal.

How did Patrick Lewis come to be the entrepreneur he is today bringing smiles and delicious goodies to everyone’s table? His mother shares how Patrick has used switches to control anything from his fan and blender to his music for years. The idea for Purely Patrick came while using switches to help water the plants, make milkshakes, or mix pancakes. He uses a special “pouring switch” hooked up to a measuring cup on the end of a gooseneck in order to build the layered jars of cookies, soups, and everything offered at Purely Patrick. (This clip from WCAX features Patrick using the custom device https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZZbjILDVh8).

Although Patrick does not speak, he is known to get his point across. His keen hearing and hands allow him to “see” the world around him.

“My hands “see” what my eyes cannot.”
