Water You Waiting For? Head Out to the Moraine State Park Regatta!
Great things are happening at Moraine State Park. The annual Moraine State Park Regatta is taking place after having to be put on hold last year. They will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the park starting August 6th, 2021. There are lots of fun activities planned which are detailed below.
The most exciting news is that the Leadership Butler County Class of 2020/2021 had a goal of raising enough money to install an ADA Accessible EZ Dock at Moraine State Park – South Shore. The EZ Dock and Launch System gives people the ability to get themselves safely into their kayaks before entering the water. They were able to have the dock set and the funds raised helped to add handicapped parking spots, paved sidewalks, extra seating, as well as contributed to the landscape and overall improvement of the area. The dedication of this ramp will take place during the Regatta, on Saturday, August 7th at 4 p.m.
In addition to the ramp dedication there are activities all weekend long, including a butterfly release, which will take place at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2021. Get Moving Moraine highlights all the fun recreational happenings that are available at the park, including kayaking, paddle-boarding, sailboat rides, yoga, tai chi guided hikes and more.
There will also be the Moraine Regatta 5k race on Saturday morning. The proceeds from this race will benefit the Moraine Preservation Funds. If someone you know enjoys paddle-boarding, there will be a race on Saturday as well as a cornhole tournament Saturday morning at 11 a.m. Registration is required for these events.
Both Saturday and Sunday will host a car cruise. Fireworks will light up the sky Saturday night. The weekend guarantees to be action packed.
