Myths and Facts About the Covid-19 Vaccinations
There is so much information about COVID-19 vaccinations circulating. That’s why it’s so important to have the correct information from an accurate source. let’s take a look at some of the myths and facts.
MYTH: The COVID-19 vaccine was developed too quickly to be safe.
There are many reasons why the COVID-19 vaccines could be developed so quickly. FACT: Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were created with a method that has been in development for years.
FACT: There were no steps skipped in the production of these vaccines.
FACT: There were plenty of investors including governments, involved to help further the research and/or pay for the vaccines in advance.
MYTH: The ingredients in the COVID-19 vaccines are dangerous.
FACT: The first two COVID-19 vaccines to be authorized by the FDA contain mRNA and other, normal vaccine ingredients, such as fats (which protect the mRNA), salts, as well as a small amount of sugar.
FACT: These COVID-19 vaccines were not developed using fetal tissue, and they do not contain any material, such as implants, microchips, or tracking devices.
MYTH: COVID-19 vaccines cause infertility or miscarriage.
FACT: COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to get pregnant now, or who might become pregnant in the future.
FACT: There is currently no evidence that any COVID-19 vaccines cause fertility problems.
MYTH: A COVID-19 vaccine can make me sick with COVID-19.
FACT: Because none of the authorized COVID-19 vaccines in the United States contain the live virus that causes COVID-19, the vaccine cannot make you sick with COVID-19.
MYTH: The COVID-19 vaccine changes your DNA.
FACT: The COVID-19 vaccine does not change your DNA in any way.
FACT: mRNA vaccines work by instructing cells in the body how to make a protein that triggers an immune response. Injecting mRNA into your body will not interact or do anything to the DNA of your cells.
MYTH: If I’ve already had COVID-19, I don’t need a vaccine.
FACT: Even if you have had COVID-19, evidence continues to show that getting a COVID-19 vaccine is the best protection against getting COVID-19, again.
MYTH: The COVID-19 vaccines don’t work because you can still get COVID after vaccination.
FACT: Being fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine will protect most people from getting sick with COVID-19, ranging from 66% to 100% effective.
FACT: COVID-19 vaccines are effective at helping protect against severe disease and death from the virus that causes COVID-19. There is a lot of misinformation about vaccines. But being armed with accurate information can help eliminate your doubt about getting the COVID-19 vaccination.
