Last summer, I had the pleasure of exploring Erie, Pennsylvania. I was genuinely impressed by its natural beauty and commitment to accessibility when we explored Presque Isle for the day.  We spent time at Beach 11.

The soft, white sand stood out. It was smooth and rock-free, unlike some of the other beaches nearby. It was the kind of place that invites you to relax and enjoy yourself without barriers.

Erie’s commitment to accessibility really shines through with the use of Mobi Mats on its beaches. These durable, slip-resistant pathways make it much easier for individuals using wheelchairs, strollers, or walkers to move across the sand. I later discovered that these mats aren’t just at Beach 11. They’re also installed at Beaches 1, 3, and 8, expanding access and comfort across multiple locations. One of the features that made Beach 11 standout is its typically calm waters because of its cove like location, offering a peaceful shoreline experience with minimal wake. It’s an ideal spot for relaxing, wading, or simply enjoying the calmness of the lake safely. This location has a beach house equipped with restrooms and changing areas. It also has spacious picnic areas and a charming pavilion. These facilities make it easy and enjoyable to spend an entire day there, whether you’re relaxing by the water, enjoying a meal outdoors, or seeking shelter from the sun.
