Project ECHO is an educational program offered by Penn State College of Medicine. ECHO stands for Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes and is an internationally-recognized, evidence-based approach to continuing education and telementoring. It focuses on sharing knowledge across miles
and disciplines. Project ECHO actually started back in 2018 and has been influencing positive health outcomes around Pennsylvania and beyond.

We want to help raise awareness for a new, free offering in the ECHO series: Building Communication Opportunities for Adults with Autism & Communication Needs. It is designed for professionals who work with adults with autism and/or people with communication needs. It uses the virtual telementoring platform called Project ECHO. You can expect each session to start with a brief presentation with the purpose of launching interactive discussions. Attendees and experts work together to find real-life strategies to support people. Direct Support Professionals, Supervisors, Team Leads, you don’t want to miss this no cost offering.

Why It Matters:
Small changes in your approach to communication can have a huge impact on the individuals you support. By improving communication, you help enhance their independence, social involvement, and overall well-being.

Currently, sessions are biweekly on Monday mornings from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., starting on September 8, 2025. The program is entirely virtual and you can attend as your schedule allows.
